This is the unique edition of the Bezalel copper mounted leather EREZ-ISRAELITH Passover Haggadah in Hebrew and translation to English; printed in Israel by Sinai Publishing (Tel-Aviv) 1951. This is a rare Bezalel copper mounted leather binding Passover Haggadah. This fine and elegant brown cover has a copper plaque with the illustration of David's Tower (Migdal David), under the cooper plaque is written in golden Hebrew letters the words: “Migdal David" - "Jerusalem"; and on the bottom is written in Hebrew ¨Haggadah Shel Pesah. You can see the "Bezalel" name, in Hebrew under the Hammered Copper relief on the bottom right, the lettering has lost some of its gold lettering, see close up picture. This Passover Haggadah was published the very first years of the new State of Israel to commemorate the promises of the Bible and the 2000 years of prayers to return of the Children of Israel to the Promised Land after the long Diaspora. As the People of Israel made exodus from Egypt to the Land of Canaanl the Jews made exodus from the Diaspora to the Promised Land to accomplish the prayer: “Next year in the rebuilt Jerusalem;” this Haggadah publication had a strong meaning and message since the Holy Old City of Jerusalem was captured and destroyed by the Jordenian soldiers. For this reason this Haggadah comes with many pictures of the Land of Israel and illustrations with Zionist motives in black and white. The Bezalel school was founded in 1906 by Boris Schatz, who shaped its character.?His approach stressed both the practical and the ideal. ?His vision was to develop useful arts and crafts among Palestinian Jews, thereby decreasing the dependence on charity. ?At the same time, he sought to inspire his students to create a Jewish national style of the arts, in order to promote the Zionist endeavor. Overall, for being 59 years old - the book is in excellent condition; cover is in great condition. Pages are in great condition without worm holes. Clean text readable without problems.
