Bezalel brass mounted leather “Book of Esther with 11 illustrations in colours” in Hebrew and with translation to English; printed in Israel by Sinai Publishing (Tel-Aviv) 1949. This is a Bezalel brass mounted leather binding Book of Esther Illustrated. This fine and elegant brown cover has a brass plaque with the illustration of David's Tower (Migdal David) at Jerusalem, under the cooper plaque is written in golden Hebrew letters the word: "Jerusalem"; and on the bottom is written in Hebrew the "Bezalel" name, in Hebrew under the Hammered Copper relief on the bottom right, the lettering has lost some of its gold lettering, see close up picture. This book comes with eleven full color illustrations. The Bezalel school was founded in 1906 by Boris Schatz, who shaped its character.?His approach stressed both the practical and the ideal. ?His vision was to develop useful arts and crafts among Palestinian Jews, thereby decreasing the dependence on charity. ?At the same time, he sought to inspire his students to create a Jewish national style of the arts, in order to promote the Zionist endeavor. Overall, for being 60 years old - the book is in excellent condition; the cover is in great condition. Yellowing pages but in great condition without worm holes. Clean text readable without problems.
